New Gods of Sablehook
The mountain moved. Then 4,371 people vanished.
The Sablehook Apocrypha: Book of Delilah
In Sablehook, Washington, a mountain town of loggers, inventors, and a suspicious number of astronomers, nearly a third of the residents disappeared overnight. Then the story did, too. A drama instructor turned investigative reporter wants both back.
About the show
Searchers found no bodies, no footprints, and no explanation. Within weeks, the news moved on to a war and the outrage du jour.
Delilah Moore, who lost family that night, has something the searchers never had: recordings she gathered for a play about her town, months before the Great Disappearance. Heard now, they are full of strangeness the town had learned to shrug off: a moose far outside its range, voices on a ghost frequency, telescopes turned toward the ground, and a mountain some residents swear is creeping.
Told through the investigative podcast Below the Fold, New Gods of Sablehook is about what a town loses, and what starts whispering in the silence.
